Fall '11 - '12 Season

The Wings opened their 39th season of play in the High School Hockey League of Nassau County on Sunday night, November 6 with a 4-3 loss to East Williston. EW scored first at the 7:01 mark of the 1st period. Four minutes later PJ Volz (assisted by Markopoulos) to tie the game up. EW scored with 11 seconds left in the period to that a 2-1 lead at the end of the 1st period.

The Wings went on a power play early into the 2nd period and Elias Georgas (assisted by Markopolulos) to tie the game at 2-2. At 9:46 of the period, EW scored. Then, while EW was on a power play, they scored once more. The 2nd period ended with EW leading 4-2.

The period was a defensive struggle with neither side giving any opportunities to shoot on net. At the 3:03 mark the Wings called a timeout. Then they pulled their rookie Goaltending, Matt Lobasso in favor of extra skater. With 21 seconds left in the game, Chris Arena scored to make it. 4-3. The Wings continued to press EW and keep the action in front of EW's net, but couldn't get the tying goal before the buzz when off.

This year's team has four rookies: Matt Lobasso, Joe Giarraputo, Anthony Mercandetti and Michel

The Wings next games are Wednesday night versus Jericho at Bethpage arena and Saturday afternoon versus Levittown at Iceworks arena in Syosset.
