Sophmore goaltender David Wax had 11 saves while in net for the first half of the game.
Tom Greco had a plus/minus rating of +3 for the game and won 75% of his faceoffs. Greco and Eric Diller had about half of the teams 26 shots on goal with each putting six shots on the Locust Valley net. Diller and Pat Donahue both were +2 for the game.
Defensively, strong performances were turned in by the four Wings defensemen. Juniors Tim Moynihan and Tom White start their third season with the varsity. Both finished last season with a strong +6 rating. Freshman Elias Georgas played well at both ends of the rink and showed his offensive strengths with several good offensive rushes. Freshman Robert Tomao was a +1 in his varsity debut.
Overall, the Wings were four for four in penalty kills and one for four on the power play. GC received strong games from several forwards making their varsity debuts. Albert Markopoulos and Billy Barbaro both helped to generate several good scoring opportunities. Stephen Lanciotti and Michael Borges had good games at both ends of the rink with winger Tom Martis doing a good job along the boards for GC.
